Worldwide production of the North American Mazdaspeed Miata along with its siblings the Japanese Roadster Turbo and Australian MX-5 SE began on this date at the Mazda Ujina No. 1 Plant in Hiroshima, Japan. There were 5 Canadian and 6 USA Velocity Red cars produced along with 4 Titanium Grey USA cars.
